Featured Dallas Mexican Restaurants

With Texas being so close to the border, it makes sense that we would have our share of Mexican restaurants. Dallas is home to many popular, and well-known Mexican restaurants as well as mom and pop taquerías which are second to none. Inside are reviews and and a list of some of my favorites I’ve tried and frequent often since moving to Dallas five years ago, each for different reasons. Some say the real test is the chips and salsa, but I disagree, I can deal with average chips and salsa as long as they get a few other things right. See my list of my favorite  Mexican restaurants in Dallas.

Featured Dallas Cajun Restaurants

I’m a huge fan of all food which could be considered Cajun influence: crawdaddies (mud bugs), dirty rice, gumbo, boudin sausage, fried pickles, shrimp etouffee. Being relatively close to the Louisiana border, a certain mindset takes over the Dallasites with Cajun in their blood when crawfish become in season. Secondly, we have a large transient population of ex-New Orleans residents due to Katrina, as well as just transplants by choice. I have been a fan of the bugs ever since I tried them for the first time at Nate’s Seafood and Steak House circa 2002.  I won’t limit my search to Dallas proper, because several of my favorite seafood and cajun places happen to resided outside the Big D. Learn about some of my other favorite cajun restaurants in Dallas.

Featured Dallas Hamburger Joints

Some people spend their whole lives seeking out the best burger in their state or country. There are whole TV shows devoted to this endeavor. I would not say I’ve traveled the four corners of Texas to find the best burgers, but I have had my fair share of ground beef between buns in Dallas Burgers whether gourmet, home-style, backyard grilled, fast food heat-lamped, or chili burgers they have their own category. Yes, many of these restaruants listed will serve much more than burgers. But what is their claim-to-fame? Don’t forget our veggie friends who like to sink their teeth into bean and veggie burgers which can sometimes taste better than the real thing. In this section, I attempt to recommend and profile some of the most popular, best-tasting burgers in Dallas.
